The Friends of Sydney International Piano Competition is independent of the main Competition administration. The Friends are coordinated by a passionate group of volunteers and membership is open to everyone. Leading up to The Sydney every four years, the Friends hold regular concerts and events to support the fundraising strategies of The Sydney and in 2027 will again donate the first prize of $50,000.
The Friends group formed for the first Competition in 1977 and has been active ever since. They provide not only fundraising support to The Sydney, but in addition, volunteer support for administration, ushering and hospitality during The Sydney itself.
