Carla Trott is a distinguished classroom music specialist, renowned for her commitment to aural-based, sequential music education. With a teaching career spanning diverse educational levels, Carla has earned acclaim both across Australia and internationally for her innovative approach to music pedagogy. She is currently a Senior Lecturer of Music Education at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music – The University of Sydney working with pre-service teachers at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
A passionate advocate for accessible music education, Carla co-founded the Emerging Music Teachers Network in 2015 which continues to run almost 10 years later. This initiative offers free resources through online workshops and provides mentorship to early-career teachers. It also has created a space for working teachers to connect, share and develop their skills, helping them build confidence and deliver high-quality music programs.
Carla holds a BMus (Perf) degree from the Queensland Conservatorium, a GradDip (SecEd) from Griffith University and a MEd (Gifted Ed) from UNSW. She has an Australian Kodály Certificate in Secondary Education and is an accredited lecturer of the Australian Kodály Certificate.
