Bullying And Discrimination
The Sydney International Piano Competition (The Sydney) has zero tolerance for bullying and discrimination and promotes an equal and fair environment for its staff, competitors, artists, volunteers and contractors.
Bullying. Bullying in the workplace is defined as repeated inappropriate behaviour, direct or indirect, whether verbal, physical or otherwise, conducted by one or more persons against others, at the place of work, which could be regarded as undermining the individual’s right to dignity at work. All workers are responsible to treat all persons involved with The Sydney respectfully and fairly.
Discrimination. No one is to be discriminated against either directly or indirectly on the grounds of gender, marital status, family status, sexual orientation, religious belief, age, disability or race.
If you are the target of, or witness to bullying or discrimination, please report it as soon as possible to The Sydney office on +61 (0)2 9241 3291.
All reports will be held in strict confidence by The Sydney staff who will document the situation through an Incident Report and appropriate action will be taken.
Breaches in The Sydney’s bullying and discrimination policy will lead to disciplinary proceedings and, if appropriate, dismissal.
Misconduct
The Sydney believes in fairness for all.
The following are considered as misconduct and such misconduct will lead to disciplinary proceedings and, if appropriate, dismissal.

Personal harassment. This includes, but is not limited to, physical abuse, tasteless jokes, abusive or sexual remarks and threatening behaviour.

Damage of The Sydney’s items/ property. (including safety equipment) Damage caused by carelessness, negligence or deliberate vandalism.
Theft is unacceptable and not tolerated at The Sydney. Appropriate action will be taken. Please leave all valuable items in your hotel room safe.
