ORGANISATIONAL OVERVIEW

Piano+ is an exciting new presentation and production company emerging from the almost 50-year-old Sydney International Piano Competition (The Sydney).

Since 1977, The Sydney has been in the international keyboard spotlight and has nurtured the very best of young international and Australian pianists. It has provided opportunities for Australian audiences to hear great talent, not only in Sydney, but in many places around the country. Now, Piano+ will take on those responsibilities, offering a diverse program of musical experiences annually, as well as presenting The Sydney itself on a quadrennial basis.

Piano+ ‘s annual program features an International Recital Series, national tours for emerging artists, regional piano festivals, site-specific piano events, and piano education and outreach programs.

Piano+ is open to exploring opportunities that have the piano as a central feature. It will venture beyond solo classical music recitals and masterclasses to include keyboardists from other musical genres or cross-art form collaborations.

Piano+ Education builds on the organisation’s depth of engagement and established partnerships with key learning institutions. The 2024 Autumn Piano School in partnership with the New England Conservatorium of Music launches an intensive piano course located in the picturesque regional setting of Armidale in the north of NSW, giving students of the piano, from youngsters to adults, an immersive and memorable experience.
