POSITION DESCRIPTION
Strategy, Planning and Analysis
- Write and implement a comprehensive marketing, communications and sales strategy for Piano+ that includes core aspects of traditional & digital marketing (including niche marketing), sales, ticketing management and PR.
- Develop and implement individual marketing and communication plans for Piano+ projects and activities which include but are not limited to:
- comprehensive promotion and sales driven actions to achieve forecast ticketing income.
- a comprehensive media engagement plan.
- a dedicated social media plan.
- Analyse, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of all ongoing digital marketing campaigns and strategies to ensure they are delivering an effective return on investment and defining future activity.
- Ensure that the brand is maintained and evolves to enhance the objectives of the marketing and communications strategy.
- Prepare detailed reports on marketing activities and achievements for the Board of Directors.
Traditional and Digital Marketing
- Provide oversight and guidance on the Production of all print design including but not limited to programs, invitations, certificates and signage.
- Oversee all collateral for events and programs including design layout (using supplied templates and new generation within Canva or similar design software)
- Provide oversight and guidance on all copy for digital and printed programs including but not limited to the monthly eNewsletter and social media, ensuring relevant content, messaging and branding is consistent.
- Provide oversight and guidance on the maintenance of the website including but not limited to the uploading and optimisation of content, application procedures, ticket information, promotions and partner events.
- Oversee the coordination of all social media platforms and eNewsletter activity including creating content, scheduling posts, coordinating promotions, moderating comments and engaging with industry relevant content.
- Provide oversight and guidance on the cataloguing and utilisation of existing audio, video and still image resources.
Financial
- With the Chief Executive and Operations Manager develop budgets to achieve sales and promotional targets
- Implement, monitor and report on budget income and expenditure related to the activities of the marketing and communication strategy and plans.
- Maintain paperwork and approvals of expenditure to satisfy procedures and prevent overspend.
- Identify areas of savings in expenditure budgets and growth in income.
Leadership & People Management
- Be a key leader in a safe, respectful and responsible workplace that engenders a dynamic, energetic, collaborative and performance-oriented workplace culture, ensuring that expectations of professional behaviour are clear and understood by all team members.
- Actively participate and contribute to for staffing matters involving marketing and sales team members including recruitment, performance, staff development and employment separation processes.
- Actively participate with the executive team and other staff to contribute to the development of strategies, plans, budgets, risk assessments, programs and activities and ensure their optimum effectiveness and efficiency.
Ticketing & Database
- Manage the Tessitura database for retention and growth of audiences nationally.
- Manage external ticketing agencies.
- Provide oversight and guidance on the ongoing development and maintenance of database/s, including Tessitura.
- Regularly extract and analyse segmented marketing data from ticket sales to inform and refine marketing initiatives.
Engagement
- Work with the external design and PR agencies and broadcast partners to develop and deliver on the objectives of marketing and communications strategy and plans.
- Identify international partnerships to drive online sales.
- Develop mutually beneficial relationships with media, media outlets, arts organisations, music schools, the local community and other stakeholders to ensure branding and key messages are accurately communicated and represented and to support the objectives of marketing and communications strategy and plans.
Audience and Partnership Building
- Target appropriate audience segments and think ‘outside the square’ to amplify audiences.
- Set and implement growth targets for audiences.
Media Communications
- Working with the external PR agency to identify and liaise with key media and media outlets for promotion of activities.
- Develop effective media communication strategies overseeing drafting of media releases and statements.
- Oversee the recording and documenting of all press coverage for archival purposes.
Documentation
- Coordinate the photography and/or videography of projects and activities including but not limited to scheduling, use, archiving and permissions.
General
- Attend events and functions as required.
- Other duties as reasonably required by the Operators Manager or Chief Executive.
KEY CRITERIA
1.Qualifications
- A relevant tertiary qualification would be an advantage, but experience and proven ability will be viewed as the priority.
2. Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- At least 10 years’ experience in senior management roles in marketing and/or related fields
- High-level understanding of the principles of arts marketing, communications and publicity
- Demonstrated experience in and abilities with strategic positioning and branding
- Experience working across all media platforms including digital and social media
- Proven experience in financial management and budgeting
- Highly organised and demonstrating thoroughness and attention to detail
- A creative thinker able to deliver innovative solutions in response to needs
- Proven ability to manage and motivate staff and third party contractors.
- Excellent communication skills to support internal and external relationships
- Excellent contacts, knowledge and networks
