Glenn Amer

Glenn Amer studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music from 1986 to 1993. During this time, at age 13, he was invited to London to study at the studios of Geoffrey Parsons (piano) and Erich Vietheer (voice). While at the Conservatorium he studied pianoforte, singing, composition, harmony, French horn and clarinet.

Glenn is an internationally experienced singer/pianist who has given countless headline performances within Australia and all over the world. He was on the staff at the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney as both voice teacher and vocal coach from 1997 to 2004 and later as guest coach for the National Academy of Music (based in Melbourne). He was répétiteur and assistant conductor for Opera Australia from 2006 to 2020, and represented Opera Australia at performances for the official Asian launch of Jetstar in Japan and Thailand. Glenn was the Artistic and Musical Director for Pacific Opera over the period 2008 to 2015 and is presently Director of Music for The Seven Sopranos, a professional singing group for whom Glenn provides all musical arrangements. He held the position of Head of Piano Faculty, Hume Conservatorium, Goulburn from 2020 to 2022, and is presently Director of Music at St Peter’s Anglican Church Cremorne, a position he has held since 2015.
