Canberra recitals

Our recital series in Canberra is broken up into two categories, the International Recital Series and Emerging Artist Recital Series.

The International Recital Series is made up of leading classical pianists from overseas, and the Emerging Artist Recital Series is made up of 2023 Sydney International Piano Competition prize winners.

Lukáš Vondráček - International Recital Series

Known for his blend of power, lyricism and nuance, Lukáš is a pianist with an enormously deep range of unforced expression. Vladimir Ashkenazy said of him, “Such a pianist is born once in thirty years.” This superb program, with its intuitive exploration of the inner worlds of Brahms, Scriabin and Schumann, is a wonderful opportunity to experience this remarkable soloist at the height of his considerable powers.

Jeonghwan Kim - Emerging Artist Recital Series

Winner of the 2023 Sydney International Piano Competition, Jeonghwan’s performances have been described as “deeply impressive” (The Age) with “youthful energy, strength and vehemence” (Limelight). A remarkable artist set to take the world by storm, Kim gives a sparkling performance of Mozart, Chopin, Liszt, Schumann and Bartok. .

Alexandra Dariescu - International Recital Series

Alexandra is a trailblazing pianist who demonstrates fearless curiosity and ground-breaking innovation in her work, including championing lesser known and particularly female composers. Jean-Efflam Bavouzet - International Recital Series

Korkmaz Can Sağlam - Emerging Artist Recital Series

Reuben Tsang - Emerging Artist Recital Series

Entering the competition with a weeks’ notice, to become the second youngest competitor to reach the semi-final round, Reuben garnered three different awards at the 2023 Sydney International Piano Competition, including winner Nancy Weir Best Australian pianist. There is no doubt Reuben is an extraordinary performer with a stellar career ahead of him. Catch him on the rise as he performs works by Scarlatti, Faure, Brahms and Mozart.

Joyce Yang - International Recital Series

Lauded by the Washington Post for her “poetic and sensitive pianism” and described by the New York Times as a “knockout”, Piano+ is delighted to present this phenomenal musician in a program of works by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and Stravinsky, followed by Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
